From hand shakes to eye contact, nodding to nodding off, stiff posture to open legs, there are simply hundreds of channels for nonverbal communication - we need to be aware!

Our Body Talks nonverbal communication programme gives a strong introduction on how to recognise and interpret hidden body and tonal signals. We use practical examples and full group participation in order to understand these instinctive methods of communication. Over time the tools and techniques we teach will become unconscious, once they do communication will become a completely new animal.

It's important to note that being aware of nonverbal communication adds value interactions and should not be taken as a pure indicator of actual meaning.

A little bit of background

"According to Mehrabian (1971), these three elements account differently for our liking for the person who puts forward the message: words account for 7%, tone of voice accounts for 38%, and body language accounts for 55% of the liking". This can be applied directly to persuasion, negotiation and leadership within the working environment. Albert Mehrabian, born 1939, is a professor of Psychology at UCLA. He's best known for his publications on verbal and nonverbal communication.”

It is a common misconception that nonverbal communication conveys the bulk of the message. This is simply not true. There is a clear distinction between the message and the attitude towards the message. For example in a presentation it is the content that is the bulk and the nonverbal communication that gives away the presenters attitude towards their material. This portrays their true belief or conviction.
